James Murithi

Murithi James is a Tutorial Fellow at the University of Nairobi's Department of Electrical and Information Engineering. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with First-Class Honors.

His research interests focus on renewable energy systems, power systems optimization, and smart grid technologies. His recent work, "Particle Swarm Optimization of Self-Consumption for Solar PV Integrated Buildings," was presented at the 2024 International Youth Conference on Energy (IYCE) and published by IEEE.

Beyond teaching and research, James plays a key role in academic administration as a member of the Departmental Examination Committee, overseeing fourth-year results. He is actively involved in supervising laboratory experiments, guiding students in Electrical Engineering concepts, and delivering lectures on Analog Electronics, Building Technology, and Electrical Circuits Theory across various departments.

James has also contributed to industry through energy audits, systems design, and prior roles in the public and private sectors, including ICT Authority and Kenya Revenue Authority. His technical skills span MATLAB, Python, Power Systems Analysis, AutoCAD, and Machine Learning applications in Electrical Engineering.

Committed to mentorship and community service, he collaborates with the Unbound Meru Project to support education for underprivileged students. In his leisure time, he enjoys outdoor sports, reading, and exploring advancements in engineering and technology.
