Evaristus M. Irandu is a Professor of Travel, Tourism and Economic Geography in the Department of Geography, Population and Environmental studies of the University of Nairobi. He holds a PhD degree in Economic Geography, specializing in Transport and Tourism Geography.
He has vast research and consultancy experience in transport infrastructure, tourism and environmental issues spanning four decades. His current research interests include African aviation, Low carbon transport, International tourism, Ecotourism, Heritage tourism and Social and Environmental safeguards. He has published many articles in top world-class peer reviewed transport and tourism journals.
He has also published many book chapters with world-class publishers such as Edward Elgar and Routledge among others. He has consulted for the World Bank, COMESA, USAID and Technoserve among others in his areas of competence.
He is a Lead Environmental Impact Assessor and Auditor licensed by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and a member of the Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK). In his long teaching career at the University of Nairobi, he has supervised and mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students and established many international research collaboration links with top universities in the world.
