    Bio

    Dr. John Birir is a Kenyan mechanical engineer and academic with specialization in nuclear science and non-destructive testing (NDT). He is a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, affiliated with both the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering and the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology.

    Dr. Birir earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Nuclear Science, and PhD in Nuclear Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi. His doctoral research focused on ultrasonic guided wave techniques for super-resolution imaging in NDT applications.

    With over 20 years of experience, he has served in various roles including NDT Supervisor and Trainer at SGS Kenya and Mechanical Engineer at the Ministry of Roads and Transportation. His research interests include guided ultrasonics, metamaterials, and radiographic inspection, with several publications in these areas.

    In May 2021, Dr. Birir was recognized by the University of Nairobi for his outstanding contributions to research.
