INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE BY PROSOWO ON WORLD SOCIAL WORK DAY 16TH T0 18TH MARCH 2014
For the past two and a half years, a consortium of five higher education institutions namely, Makerere University (Uganda), University of Nairobi (Kenya), National University of Rwanda, Institute of Social Work (Tanzania) and Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (Austria) has been undertaking a project on the "Promotion of Professional Social Work for Social Development and Poverty Reduction in East Africa" (PROSOWO) under the auspices of the Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education for Research and Development (APPEAR). To crown these efforts, the consortium will host an international conference themed ‘Professional Social Work in East Africa: Towards Social Development and Poverty Reduction’ that will bring together social work educators, practitioners, students, policy makers and other stakeholders to further discuss the future of social work in Africa and learn from each other the practices in social work education and practice from international, regional and local perspectives.
The conference will take place from 16th to 18th March 2014 in Kampala, Uganda and will coincide with the World Social Work Day, 2014 where the delegates present will mark this special day together.
