The purpose of this study was to find out whether there exists a
relationship between the application of safety policy procedures and
practices by auxiliary staff; safety of work environment and equipment;
and safety training of auxiliary staff and how the three affected the
performance of the auxiliary staff in secondary schools in Nandi County,
Kenya. Cross-sectional design was used in Nandi County where
quantitative research strategy was applied for the collection of data using
questionnaires. The target population comprised of 120 secondary schools
in Nandi County. Simple Random sampling was used to select the 36

which 147 auxiliary staff were randomly selected. Data collected by
questionnaires from 147 auxiliary staff were analyzed using Pearson’s
correlation analysis with the help of Statistical Package for Social
Sciences (SPSS). The findings of the analysis of data revealed that there
was a significant relationship between the applications of safety policy
procedures and practices by auxiliary staff and their performance in
secondary schools in Nandi County. However, the findings revealed that
there was no relationship between the safety of work environment and
equipment in use in secondary schools in Nandi County by auxiliary staff
and their performance, and that there was no relationship between the
safety training of auxiliary staff in secondary schools in Nandi County
and performance of auxiliary staff. Out of this study, 4 recommendations
