Holds a PhD in Plant Science (British Columbia), M.Sc.Agronomy (UoN) and B.Sc.Agriculture (UoN). He is the serving Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, UoN. He coordinates teaching, research, outreach and income generating activities in the Faculty. Currently coordinating regional RUFORUM programmes at UON, coordinated and managed several multiinstitutional projects, collaborated on Prepare PhD project supported by ACP-EDULINK. He has taught courses in agronomy, horticulture, postharvest and seed science and technology at Masters and undergraduate levels. He has supervised over 30 students at Masters and PhD levels. As a researcher he has won and coordinated over 8 grants in all areas of plant science. Currently he is offering leadership as principal investigator in three main projects namely: ‘Cassava Post-harvest Value Addition for Improved Food and Nutrition Security and better Livelihoods in Kenya funded by East African Agricultural Productivity Project’, ‘Screening finger millet for production and nutrient content to improve livelihoods of small–scale farmers in drought prone areas of Eastern Province of Kenya’ funded by Regional Universities Forum and ‘Enhancing Kenya's food security in the face of climate change through increased potato productivity” funded by Kenya’s National Council of Science and Technology (NCST)’. In addition he was a team member on the 2009- 2013 as Co researcher on “Prepare PhD” A project member of an EU funded EDulink project.
