Abstract In the current study forty eight compounds belonging to anthraquinones, 
naphthoquinones, benzoquinones, flavonoids (chalcones and polymethoxylated flavones) 
and diterpenoids (clerodanes and kauranes) were explored for their antimicrobial potential
