Innovation for African Universities (AIU) Programme

The inaugural Innovation for African Universities programme was officially launched in November 2021 in a virtual event hosted by the British Council sub-Saharan Africa office. The digital event was attended by representatives from various universities in Africa and the United Kingdom as well as stakeholders in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in sub-Saharan Africa who shared their views on the scope of entrepreneurship and skill development in institutions of higher learning.

CONSTRUCTION SITE SAFETY WHILE USING HEAVY EQUIPMENT

Heavy equipment is a necessity on nearly every construction project. However, they can be extremely dangerous when not used properly. One mistake made while operating a heavy equipment can lead to a chain of reactions both to the site and the workers. Heavy equipment rolling over, falling from a high place or having workers caught in or between equipment are some of the common ways through which workers get injured when working on or near them.

Can Africa finance its own climate driven agenda?

By 2017, Africa was emitting less than 4% of carbon dioxide emissions. Although the continent is the lowest emitter, African countries will lose 2-5% of their GDP with the slightest warming scenario. This means Africa will not be able to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) especially reducing poverty, creating jobs, the equitable approach for all, and climate adaptation.
