Dr. Peter Baaro Gathura,  Senior Lecturer, University of Nairobi
Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Masters and PHD in Veterinary Public Health, University of Nairobi.
Duties and Responsibilities include lecturing and conducting laboratory field practices for undergraduate students and supervision of Masters and PHD students. Examination of students’ thesis,  reports and participating in post graduate student examination boards. Areas of specialization include: Zoonoses, immunology, water and environmental Hygiene. Undertaking research in Veterinary Public Health and has several Publications. Has also attended presented papers in various seminars, conferences and workshops. Currently undertaking research on rabies, African Swine Fever and Rift Valley fever.     
I also participate in consultancies on behalf of the department and in private capacity. These include establishment of a water laboratory for UNICEF in Rumbek, South Sudan and a slaughterhouse for AMREF TERANUOVA in Turkana, County.   I am registered by the National Environment Management Agency (NEMA) as a Lead Expert in Environmental Impact Assessment. I am a member of the Kenya Bureau of Standards Committee on drinking Water Standards. I am registered by the Kenya Veterinary Association as a Veterinary Surgeon and a member of the Kenya Veterinary Association.
