My skills and experiences span academia, research, resource management, project management, policy development, community outreach, and interrelationships for 23 years postdoctoral. I have in the process worked on development, management, and evaluation of programs in biodiversity and ecosystem services, food-energy-water nexus, land degradation and restoration, indigenous knowledge systems in NRM, environmental policy, urban planning and management, renewable energy applications, and climate change. Over last twelve years, my work has entailed encouraging and facilitating integration of science and policy, researchers and community, and business and ecosystems. Working at landscape levels in arid and semi-arid areas, the aim is to improve natural resource management for better livelihood bases, while building resilience to climate variability and change among communities. Outcomes have local, national, regional and global implications. Currently, I am a Professor of Environmental Policy and Director at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP), University of Nairobi, Kenya.
