To introduce the learner to modern and postmodern history and theories in Art and Design.

2. Discuss the leaders and environments in which the movements occurred.
3. Describe the operations of galleries, museums, studios and organizations that impacted on art and design.
4. Explain the role of women and special groups in the movements.

1. Identify historical developments of interior design across time.
2. Classify interior design in the contexts of historical, cultural and technological developments.
3. State the types, roles and relevance of interior design spaces and their historical evolution in different regions.
4. Relate methods and processes of interior design within historical context.

BDS 319: Printed Textiles and Industry

This course focuses on converting printed fabrics into garments for industry. As a
designer, it is important to think through the entire design process from concept, to fabric,
to how it converts into a wearable fashion product. There will also be emphasis on cutting
and construction techniques.

Expected Outcomes:
Trnslate 2D concepts into 3D garments
Work with print to create visually appealing clothing
Create technical sheets for industry
Create costings for production.

BDS 302: Themes in Social Cultural Studies
