Professor Eddy Geoffrey Mosoti Mogoa was born on 1st of January, 1960. He did his early schooling in Nyanza province before joining Mang’u High School in Central Kenya in 1979 for his high school. He joined the University of Nairobi in 1981 from where he obtained his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) in 1986 and Master of Science (MSc.) in Clinical Studies in 1990. He went on to obtain his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Veterinary Surgery, specializing in Veterinary Anaesthesiology from the University of Pretoria at Onderstepoort, South Africa in 1999. He has been a staff member at Department of Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, since 1988. At the moment, he is an Associate Professor in Veterinary Surgery. Prof. Mogoa has been involved in training both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Veterinary Science, Wildlife Health and Management / Wildlife Management and Conservation, Biomedical Technology; undertaking research; and offering consultancy services in various areas in the livestock industry / animal health sector. He is also involved in supervision of undergraduate student projects, Masters and Doctorate students. He has carried out research and published more than 50 papers in various local and international journals, and presented more than 60 papers (authored by self and / or with colleagues) in various conferences / workshops. These presentations have been on anaesthesia, pain management, disaster preparedness and mitigation, veterinary education, animal welfare, livestock policy issues, zoonoses, among others.
