Lydiah N. Wambugu

Lydiah Nyaguthii Wambugu is an educationist with 28 years’ experience, 10 in secondary school and 18 years at the university. She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Education Management, Policy & Curriculum Studies, Faculty of Education, the University of Nairobi, Kenya. As a faculty member, she lectures in Research Methods, Curriculum Theory & Practice and Teacher Education to the Master of Education students and Curriculum Development and Teacher Education to the Bachelor of Education students. She also guides graduate students in their project and thesis work. Since her last appointment in 2014, she has guided successfully 19 Masters students and 2 PhD students to completion and published 18 academic papers in refereed journals, 2 scholarly books, 2 book chapters, 6 OdeL learning Courseware materials, 1 policy brief and attended and presented 11 papers in conferences.  

Lydiah is a trainer in Asynchronous Teaching and Learning, Development of Program/ Unit Learning Outcomes and Teaching Strategies, Quantitative Data Analysis (IBM SPSS Statistics), Monitoring and Evaluation, Research Methodologies and Principles of Open and Distance Learning. She has undertaken short courses in Policy Briefs (University of Nairobi), Monitoring and Evaluation Accreditation Course (Kenya Institute of Management), Quantitative (SPSS) and Qualitative Data Analysis (University of Nairobi), Peer Reviewers Training (Commission for University Education), Principles of Open, Distance and e-learning (University of Nairobi), Grant Proposal Writing (University of Nairobi), Advanced Research Design (Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR-KENYA), Orientation to Case Study Teaching and Training (OCST) (Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR-KENYA), Courseware Development and Production and e-Learning tutors orientation (University of Nairobi) and Pedagogical Skills training (University of Nairobi). 

Besides teaching and learning at the University of Nairobi, Lydiah is a program/Curriculum Peer Reviewer (CUE), external examiner at JKUAT (Nairobi CBD campus) and a Board Member, Kairi Secondary School. She is also active in her community where she is a committee member in Open Hand Children’s Home, Kitengela, a youth mentor in her local church as well assisting local churches in Thika Diocese of the Anglican Church to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate strategic plans. 

Lydiah has published in peer reviewed journals and disseminated research findings in workshops, conferences and other academic fora.
