Dr. Wilson Macharia Kairu is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Nairobi, specializing in nuclear science and non-destructive testing (NDT). His research focuses on advanced structural health monitoring of reinforced concrete using gamma computed tomography (GCT), ultrasonic guided waves, and AI-enhanced imaging techniques.

He has extensive experience in industrial and academic NDT applications, including radiography, ultrasonic testing, and process tomography. Dr. Kairu has led and contributed to several international research projects under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), focusing on imaging technologies, radiation applications, and AI-driven inspection systems.

His work integrates nuclear instrumentation, signal processing, and machine learning to improve defect detection and structural evaluation in civil and industrial systems. He has published in leading journals such as NDT & E International and Structural Health Monitoring.
