Oxidative and reductive metabolic reactions,  Photosynthesis – Light dependant and indepndant reactions. Carbohydrate metabolism - Gluconeogenesis – CO2 fixation to glucose. Biosynthesis of Mono, Di, and Polysaccharides. Glycolysis and fate of Pyruvate. Pentose Phosphate Pathway.

Metabolic pathways of terpenoids, phenolics, alkaloids and non-protein amino acids. Role and functions of secondary metabolites in plants. Secondary metabolites as biochemical and structural plant defenses against herbivores and pathogens. Phytoallexins. Adaptations of specialist herbivores and pathogens. Medicinal and therapeutic effects of natural bioactive compounds. Practical applications of secondary metabolites.
