Principal Technologist; Grade 13 | University of Nairobi. Department of Public Health, Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratories of the University of Nairobi. With the capacity to train students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research and consultancy work.
I hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology and an MSc from Kenyatta University. Currently I am the Principal Technologist in charge of laboratories in the Department of Public Health, Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Nairobi. I have over 13 years of professional experience in Laboratory Consultancy and have supervised 4 students drawn from Kenya and Sweden for their MSc thesis. I have over 26 publications in peer reviewed journals. I am involved in teaching Undergraduate and postgraduate students on Environmental pollution, and Applied immunology. My research interests are in the area of bacteriology, antimicrobial resistance and molecular immunology. I have worked with research projects in the areas of human waste management, food safety, water quality, antimicrobial resistance, and human wildlife conflict and consulted on various aspects of food safety and domestic water quality. I recently participated in a study on the state of pollution of Nairobi River basin and Lake Victoria and its main catchment rivers with the Nation Media Group. I am currently a Co-PI on a project funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research on ‘addressing livestock derived antimicrobial pollution in the Nairobi River in Kenya’, with the following group of collaborators; University of Nairobi, Department of Public Health Pharmacology & Toxicology, Royal Veterinary College Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences, Others; KMFRI, Vetworks EA, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, City University of London and University of York
