Dr. James Nyachae Michira is an experienced instructor of Kiswahili language and literature with over 20 years of teaching and research at the university level. Dr. Michira specializes in curriculum and instruction focusing on young adult literature with a bias towards using critical theory and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to uncover differential power dynamics in curriculum design, content and implementation. He has engaged in various action research initiatives involving both Kiswahili and English high school literature curricula in Kenya. Dr. Michira is also a consultant in translation and interpretation (Kiswahili & English), language and communication, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation with excellent proficiency in Kiswahili and English languages. Between August 2016 and August 2018, Dr. Michira served as a Visiting Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea. From July 2019 to January 2020, Dr. Michira was the Personal Advisor to the Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi. Currently, Dr. Michira is a Senior Lecturer in the Kiswahili Department of the University of Narobi, Kenya.
