Dr. John Ltalipen Lekuton is a Lecturer at the Department of Diplomacy and International Studies at the University of Nairobi. He received his PhD in Economics in May 2018 from Howard University Washington, D.C, U.S.A. He relocated to Nairobi, Kenya, where he has been a part-time lecturer at the Institute.
Dr. Lekuton's areas of focus are in International Economics and Development. He is interested in Regional Integration and trade, youth development, governance, poverty reduction and HIV/AIDS. Lekuton teaches several courses that include: “International Economics, Microeconomics and International Political Economy, among others.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Lekuton worked with the Narok Senator office for three years. The experience exposed him to the workings of the legislative arm of the government of Kenya. He also gained skills in international finance and banking through work and internships with banks, such as: Citigroup subsidiary (Smith Burney) and Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS).
Dr. Lekuton has over eight years international experience working with students and their issues in various capacities at Howard University Residence Life halls as Security Coordinator, Residence hall Assistant and Graduate Assistant.
A native of Karare, Marsabit Kenya, Dr. Lekuton calls himself a global citizen with families and friends across the globe.
