Dr George Obiero is a senior lecturer at the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. He graduated from the University of Nairobi (UoN) with a BSc honours degree (Biochemistry and Chemistry) before joining the University of Botswana to pursue an MSc degree in Natural Products Chemistry (Completed in 2001).
Dr . Obiero proceeded to the University of Free State in 2002 for his PhD in Biotechnology (Biocatalysis and Fermentation focus). He then proceeded to the University of Cape Town, School of Chemical Engineering for his Post Doctoral Research at the Bioprocess Engineering Research Unit. He latter joined Biofuels Research Associate Chair Research at the School of Chemical and Mineral Engineering, NWU, under the South African Energy Reseach Institute as a Researcher before proceeding to the Bioprocessing Platform (Technology Innovation Agency), as a Senior Research Scientist and Platform Manager respectively, where he gained lots of industrial process experience.
