According to Dr Geoffrey Wango, a senior education lecturer at the University of Nairobi, the change is long overdue.

“Many people with Bed did not choose the programme because they wanted to be teachers. Many were just enrolled on the course with neither the passion nor the interest to teach. If the BEd is phased out, only those who love teaching will opt to go for the diploma and that makes a lot of sense, and has the potential of creating better and committed teachers,” he says.

I truly thank God for my life, and the gift of my parents, my late father, Samuel Wango and my mother, Hannah Njoki. My mother passed on 24th March, 2021at the golden age of 92 years. A mother not only brings a child into life but also steers the child into the unknown world. Our mother gladly nurtured us physically, morally, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually, all the five (5) daughters and six (6) sons. Motherhood is a source of encouragement and inspiration; it is mothers who instil in us the courage to go on and the confidence that we can achieve it in life.
