Prof. Elizabeth Obimbo M.B.Ch.B, M.Med. (Paed), M.P.H (Epi), F.Pulm (Paed).

Elizabeth Maleche Obimbo is a Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Nairobi. Her areas of specialization include Paediatric Respiratory Medicine, Paediatric Infectious Disease and Epidemiology, and she has extensive clinical experience in preventive, promotive and curative aspects of the field. During the span of her professional career she has provided clinical care of children with simple and complex medical conditions in various clinical settings, and been involved with training of medical doctors at undergraduate and postgraduate level in paediatrics & child health, as well as participated in national policy development and implementation in childhood tuberculosis and paediatric HIV as a senior technical advisor to National Government. As an academician she has been involved in research and developed academic material largely in the fields of paediatric HIV, childhood tuberculosis and respiratory medicine.

Internationally Prof Obimbo has participated as a Senior Technical Expert in the World Health Organisation Technical Groups for Childhood Tuberculosis, as well as the Paediatric Antiretroviral Therapy Group. She has published extensively in International Medical Journals, and presented in various International Conferences over the Years.

Prof Obimbo’s passion continues to be to work towards making a positive difference in the health and survival of children who are living in less advantaged settings through training, research, program technical guidance, curriculum & guideline development and clinical care.
