Prof Waris is the first female Acting Deputy Principal of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). Her docket includes but is not limited to:
1. Supporting the office of the Principal College of Humanities and Social Sciences under Prof M Jama on all matters
2. Leading on the support of Research Work of the College Academic staff
3. Spearheading the College's web strategy
4. Member of the University Executive Board (UEB)
5. Member of the University Senate and serves on Senate Sub-committees
6. Member of Central Corruption Prevention Unit
‘Go4Health’ stands for goals for global health and for governance for global health. Goals and governance are the essential elements of a social contract, which is a political philosophy concept explaining the relationship between citizens and governments: together, citizens agree on a set of goals, and accept an authority empowered to take the necessary measures to achieve those goals.
Prof Waris is the first female Director of Research and Enterprise at the University of Nairobi. Her docket includes but is not limited to:
1. Supporting the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Enterprise
2. Training on different aspects of research and grant processes including policy briefs
3. Supporting the upgrading of University Journals
4. Supporting university researchers in their pre-grant, grant and post-grant processes
5. Mapping out and maintaining the database of all academic researchers on staff
6. Member of the ODeL Board
Prof Waris has had a blog since 2017 which discusses issues surrounding fiscal systems. Focus is on taxation and state revenues that finance a state and its activities. No matter what you need in the development of a state and its poverty alleviation you need to locate resources for it.
The Committee on Fiscal Studies was founded by Prof Waris is a multidisciplinary team of academic staff from law, business, development studies that share similar interests in the field of fiscal systems and taxation. They actively mentor young researchers. Fiscal law is a field that links the collection of revenue to its spending.
