FME 678 COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD)

Semester:
First
Offered:
2021

This masters course covers the numerical analysis of fluid flow for both incompressible and compressible flow. Computational modelling of fire-driven flows is also introduced.

FME 531 FLUID MECHANICS V

Semester:
First
Offered:
2021

The content of FME 531 focuses on the all inclusive momentum equation. The Navier Stokes equation is derived and applied to practical problems by considering appropriate geometric simplifications. It is also applied to the boundary layer and finally to Non Newtonian fluids.

FME 431 FLUID MECHANICS III

Semester:
First
Offered:
2021

The content of FME 431 focuses on the practical aspect of Fluid mechanics. Dimensional analysis is considered as a way of reducing the number of variables that affect the flow phenomena. Integral momentum analysis of flow is also covered.

FME 332 FLUID MECHANICS II

Semester:
Second
Offered:
2021

The content of FME 332 focuses on Fluid dynamics. The frictionless Euler and Bernoulli equations are derived and applied to simple geometries like pipes to capture the velocity and pressure fields. The effect of friction is captured through Darcy friction factor (Moody chart) and resulting extended Bernoulli equation applied to pipe networks (Hardy Cross).

FME 532 - FLUID MECHANICS VI

Semester:
Second
Offered:
2021

The main content of FLUID MECHANICS VI is compressible flow or gas dynamics. The effects of compressibility including choking and shocks are extensively covered. Also covered are lubrication and two phase flow.
