Dr. Onyango was born in 1958 in Siaya County, Kenya. He obtained his early education in the local county schools namely Lusi Primary and Maranda High School from where he proceeded to Nkubu High School, Meru County for A-levels. He subsequently joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1986. Upon graduating, he served as a Veterinary Officer in the Kenya Civil Service up to 1988 when he resigned to re-join the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology as an Assistant Lecturer. He rose to become a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the same department in 1992 and 2002 respectively. He has held this position of Senior Lecturer up to today.He has published a total of 14 journal articles in highly regarded peer-refereed journals, contributed 7 book chapters in highly acclaimed books and authored 2 university level books. In addition, he has supervised a number of post-graduate students. His research interests centre on reproductive biology of mammals and other chordates and, in particular, the morphology, toxicology and effects of selected plant extracts on male reproduction.
