FEB 759: MODELLING DYNAMIC SYSTEMS

Modeling is a key tool is postgraduate and indeed all scientific research. A study of theoretical, experimental and computer methods for characterizing the dynamic behavior of complex systems is the focus of this course. It gives a sound philosophical and mathematical overview of modeling systems as well as detailed mathematical and empiricalmodeling including computer simulation and solutions.

Engineering is mostly about making solid objects. To make solid objects, we use different materials. The main objective of the course is to enable the student to understand in detail the properties of materials and the limits of operation so as to be able to select appropriate materials for different applications. With this foundation, the students are able to undertake research geared towards the development of new materials.

FEB 422: PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

This course trains the learners to understand the management aspects of engineering practice, understand the functions of professional engineering societies, discuss the laws and regulations governing the engineering practice and understand the role of engineers in society. During the course the learners become acquainted with financial, legal, regulatory, ethical and business aspects of engineering practice. They also learn about office organization and management,human resource management as well as professional societies, engineering registration and the role of engineering in development.
