I am a senior lecturer and research scientist in parasitology and vector-borne diseases at the University of Nairobi. I have fifteen (15) years’ experience in teaching at the university and twenty-four (24) years in conducting research in various aspects of vector-borne diseases with particular emphasis on pathogen disease diagnostics, surveillance, epidemiology and control. I have published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 2 book chapters. I have a keen interest in one health research focusing on neglected/emerging zoonotic diseases disease surveillance and reporting, development of diagnostic platforms and One Health approach control of zoonotic diseases. At the University of Nairobi, I continue to give lectures and examinations, conduct research, train and mentor the next generation of African scientists. To this end, I have successfully supervised and mentored 15 Master’s students and 5 PhD students, some of who are now engaged at senior levels within their respective national research and academic institutions
