Dr. Andrew G. Thaiyah is a senior lecturer and Head of Medicine at the University of Nairobi, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Studies. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (1987), Master of Science in Clinical Studies (1992) and a Doctor of Philosophy (2007), all from the University of Nairobi. He is a clinical epidemiologist and a specialist on food animal diseases which he has taught for the last 25 years to both undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary, Agriculture and wildlife students. He has a passion for One Health and is the country coordinator for One Health Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA), which is part of the USAID/Emerging pandemic Threats program. Dr. Andrew is also a student mentor at the college of Agriculture and veterinary sciences where he has been in charge of student attachment programs to industry. He has established very strong public – private partnerships with Industry in Kenya involving Government ministries, research institutions, private companies and international organizations like CDC and ILRI. Dr. Andrew has also been involved in engaging students to the communities through outreach programs to rural communities where students are involved in community activities of animal health and herd health and planning. He has over 25 publications in refereed journals both national and international
