BVM, MSc, MBA, PhD
I’m a veterinary epidemiologist with interest in food systems and how they affect global health security, food safety and their impacts on livelihood sources and economies. I have been part of different Onehealth initiatives including Onehealth Regional Network for the Horn of Africa; Global Onehealth Initiative and presently a co-lead for COHESA Kenya project. In addition, I have research interest on key themes of global health security including prioritization of diseases by communities and policy makers, estimation of impact of diseases in society and to individual farmers and consumers; besides analysing and formulating policies for disease control and prevention; creation of platforms to support outreach and extension services to undeserved livestock farmers and development of policy briefs. Besides, I have supervised to completion and mentored 11 PhDs and Over 20 MSc candidates. I currently work at the department of Public Health Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
